The European Commission released this week its Report to the European Parliament and to the Council on the Evaluation and Review of the “Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation)”.
The 19-page report named “Data protection as a pillar of citizens’ empowerment and the EU’s approach to the digital transition - two years of application of the General Data Protection Regulation” was produced according to the Article 97 “Commission reports” of the GDPR.
The most interesting part is the chapter 3 'Way Forward' and the list of actions (page 14 to 18) that have been identified as necessary to support GDPR application. The Commission will monitor their implementation also in view of the forthcoming evaluation report that will be generated mid 2024.
