EU: Ban sale of petrol and diesel cars from 2035

The European Parliament's Environment Committee has approved a bill banning the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2035.

From 2035, new cars will no longer be allowed to emit CO2, which means that combustion engines will be taboo from that moment on. Existing cars may continue to drive, but from that moment on, only new hydrogen-powered cars and purely electric cars with a battery will be allowed.

Synthetic fuel cars will also be banned, although they are technically carbon neutral because they are made with CO2 taken from the air.
