On Indigenous Peoples' Day, we honor the invaluable contributions of Indigenous peoples across the country and celebrate their impact on our running community.

In just three days, 13,000 runners will toe the line for the NYRR #StatenIslandHalf. This much-loved race features a fun and challenging course that offers runners spectacular views of New York Harbor and the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. The NYRR Staten Island Half comes just three weeks before 50,000 runners will gather in Staten Island for the start of the #TCSNYCMarathon. Staten Island has been the site of the start since 1976, when the race became a five-borough event. But our impact on Staten Island extends well beyond these two amazing races. More than 800 NYRR members live in Staten Island, and in 2023, 955 runners from the borough took part in NYRR races. In addition, more than 4,200 youth in Staten Island participated in free Rising NYRR programs during the 2023–2024 school year.
