While the spectrum of potential AI Solution Governance Principles is vast, I've developed twelve simple foundational tenets that could save your company reputation from poor AI (or automation) implementation: -

AI and automation solutions must be crafted and deployed with transparency at their core. This approach ensures that users and stakeholders possess a comprehensive understanding of how the technology functions, encompassing limitations, possible biases and all potential negative impacts.
2. Accountability
Clear lines of accountability must be established throughout the development, deployment, and utilisation of AI and automation solutions. Designating responsible parties, creating mechanisms for tackling errors or biases and ensuring that accountable individuals bear responsibility for the actions of AI systems is essential.
3. Fairness and Avoidance of Negative Bias
AI solutions should be developed with a steadfast commitment to equity. Developers must be vigilant in minimising both explicit and implicit biases within the data sets used to train AI models. Continuous monitoring and proactive correction of any negative consequences arising from deployment are critical to ensuring fairness and preventing discrimination.
4. Privacy and Security
Respecting and safeguarding personal identifiable information is non-negotiable. AI and automation solutions must embrace robust data protection strategies, secure informed consent for data usage, and ensure that the systems employed do not jeopardise the security of sensitive information.
5. Architecture, Technology, Human Control, and Autonomy
AI and automation systems should be designed to enhance human decision-making rather than replace it, utilising a ‘human-in-the-loop’ methodology.
