THE ETHICS of ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
?? THE IMPERATIVE of OUR TIMES ||| In my view, whether large, medium or small organizations or large governmental and|or private entities, the ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI) is a critical issue that intersects with various aspects of society and governance. A comprehensive policy on AI ethics should address the challenges and opportunities presented by AI technologies.?
?? It should ensure that AI systems are designed and operated in a way that respects human rights, promotes fairness, and avoids bias. The policy should also include mechanisms for accountability and transparency in AI decision-making processes. Moreover, it should encourage the responsible use of AI in alignment with sustainable development goals, emphasizing the importance of privacy and data protection.?
?? UNESCO's Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, https://www.unesco.org/en/artificial-intelligence/recommendation-ethics adopted by 193 member states, serves as a global standard, guiding the ethical development of AI to benefit humanity while mitigating potential risks.?
?? Additionally, organizations can operationalize AI ethics by creating tailored risk frameworks, building organizational awareness, and engaging stakeholders to monitor impacts. The harmonization of such policies across different jurisdictions is essential to ensure a cohesive approach to the ethical challenges posed by AI.?

3 个月Thanks for the link to the UN recommendations. I'm trying to get my team to account for this in the various request to implement AI and I was looking for credible third-party sources describing the need for everything you are talking about!

3 个月I feel like bias in use of AI has already been established, because so much of the south doesn't have access to the same technology that people have in the north. However, smart phones could be the democratizing factor and give people access who normally wouldn't have seen this in the past. Tech centres are growing in places like Africa, but only in wealthier and more stable countries like Nigeria , Kenya, Ghana, S Africa etc. I've noticed less reluctance towards using AI
