Since last decade, we have observed many big #organizations have disappeared from this planet by #bankrupt, legal issue and many more reasons and ultimately this has an affect a lot on the #society. I am not going into details here. However, to some extent we know about the reason. If we look at this, we can able to find that one of the major issues was an #unethical #leadership approach
In view of the above, I would like to emphasis on the #ethical leadership approach. By ethical leadership, a leader able to manage the internal and external #environment effectively and the leader would not hesitate to regret any action, even though if it leads to certain loss or his personal discomfort, but he will stay on this for the well being of all in the long run.
We have seen that in spite of having #intelligent, #educated with the highest level of degree, #industrious, #competent, the leaders are ineffective if the possess a lack of ethical qualities. In addition, though the leaders' words are noble and well-articulated it will lose the essence. And incapable to inspire their followers when there is a doubt on moral
One of the valuable literature regarding ETHICAL LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES was published in #Perspectives on management, Management Education Centre, Heritage Institute of Technology” kolkta,
“The most important quality a leader must possess is character, usually reflected in high standards of ethical conduct and strong sense of social responsibility beyond just making money. Ethics comprises the conduct of a person or group in relation to others in support of crucial collective goals such as social stability, wellbeing and progress. The job of the leader is to create a sense of shared vision among its employees and to arrive at a set of values and beliefs for the organization to follow by involving the employees of the company in the entire process. Having a set of well laid down company policies and value system is not enough. It is imperative for the leader to be strong-willed, of independent character and through his personal behavior is able to enforce those policies and beliefs. Values must pervade all business operations. It is a key responsibility of leadership, therefore, to manage these values throughout the organization so that they are effective in every action. Ethical issues can be sorted out by the leader beginning to increase his visibility in the organization. The principle of “Management by Wandering Around’ is an offshoot of his belief. The leader starts out by being accessible and approachable, but the main thing is for the leader to realize that he is there to listen to the employee grievances. This gesture on the part of the top leadership makes the employees feel that the leadership is serious about values"
