Dr Priya E. Abraham recently posted on LinkedIn this article about some employees effectively ingesting sensitive information as training data to LLMs such as ChatGPT.

This was Mark Zuckerberg's infamous motto in Facebook's early years: “Move fast and break things”, a rallying call for disruptive innovators.

Unfortunately we only realize the cost of "broken things" much later, as a Dutch court found in March 2023:

Hany Farid, a professor at the University of California, Berkeley, and digital forensics expert asked innovators in a CNN interview: “If the harms outweigh the benefits, should you carpet bomb the Internet with your technology and put it out there and then sit back and say, ‘well, let’s see what happens next?’”

It appears Microsoft gave its answer just two days ago (March 14, 2023).
