Gifts For Cyber Security?
Sometimes it can be difficult for friends or family to know just what to get for the security professionals in their lives, so we asked the TCM community for some holiday gift suggestions and came up with a list. If your loved ones are having a hard time knowing what to buy, this list has some good ideas, or it can serve to inspire them in the right direction. There is a little something for everyone, from pentesting gear, to MFA Keys, conference tickets, fidget toys, Coffee and more!?
Big shoutout to the TCM Sec Discord community for some great suggestions!
Practical Pentester Gifts
If you are interested in physical penetration testing, a good set of lock picks is a great gift that might not occur to your friends and family. These lockpicks have been tried in the field and are approved by the TCM pentesting team.
Trying to distinguish between “illegal hacking devices” and “red team tools” might be a little scary for ‘normal’ family and friends, but they can feel confident buying from Hak5.
Web app pentesting is all the rage these days and Caido is an excellent tool for auditing and testing web apps. Their basic version is great (and free), but you can always put the Pro tier on someone's radar…
If you are a red team hardware do-it-yourselfer, Andrew Bellini has a great video on building an ESP32 Marauder WiFi hacking tool. The video includes a component list in the comments section that you can share with your loved ones as a stocking stuffer idea. It’s like Lego for hackers.
A good password manager is a foundational piece of online security, but if you are the designated IT support technician in your extended family, you might actually want to be the one giving this gift.
If you need a ‘thing you have’ Yubi Keys has some quality products that would make a great stocking stuffer for security-minded individuals.
Whether you are obsessed with OPSEC, or just like to maintain your privacy, Proton offers end-to-end encrypted online services (free and paid options) with privacy as the default.

Conference Tickets
If your loved ones are more into experiential gifts, conference tickets are a great idea. Whether it's Black Hat, DefCon, WWHF, or any number of other cons, these offer networking and learning all wrapped into one big gift.
Just For Fun
Caffeine and curiosity are the fuel upon which cybersecurity professionals run. In the ocean of coffee options, this is one that our staff suggests.
Clothing often gets a bad rap around the holiday, but for those textile-giving relatives, Hackcloth is a good suggestion that you can wear to the coffee shop or your local B-Sides.
Having something to keep half of your mind occupied can help the other half devise that brilliant solution to whatever problem you're working on.
This is an excellent gift for the technically inclined as it has so much potential, from making your own tabletop figurines to parts for your drone. The sky is the limit.
It never hurts to ask :) But really, It can be a nice way to unwind from a long day of study/work.
Training For 2025
Last but not least, TCM Security offers gift certification vouchers and Academy subscriptions that would make great gifts for anyone wanting to embark on or advance in their cybersecurity training and skill demonstration. Give the gift of cyber security knowledge this holiday season!
Happy Holidays!
We hope this list can be used to help guide those who may not be technically inclined to buy practical gifts for current or aspiring penetration testers or security analysts. It’s hard enough buying gifts, but you can take it easy on your loved ones by giving them some resources :) Have a happy hacking holiday!

2 个月A PS5 would be the worst thing to give an up and coming cyber security professional...stay away from useless distractions that break your focus on gaining skills and a working on certifications. Always be learning, alwayd push yourself to be better then you were yesterday. Avoid common traps like wasting rainy days infront of the tv or console...instead read a book or blog, or do a hackthebox simulation..keep your brain trained and focused
Nice????
