Your manager is pressuring you to book entries so that the organization meets its budget. This could involve you and your staff working overtime that you don’t want (and are not contracted) to do, and to ‘enhance’ the actual results by delaying or pulling forward costs and revenues into the required time period to meet the budget.
You know that your manager will not be happy if you don’t follow her instructions. And likely your performance appraisal, which is coming up soon, will reflect your manager’s dissatisfaction with you.
You identify the ethical issues raised by this scenario to determine a course of action. What ethical issues does this scenario raise and what should you do?
