The Merge is here. Years in the making and multiple delays, the Ethereum upgrade from PoW consensus mechanism to a PoS one has finally happened, flawlessly.?
We should all be thankful to all the people behind this great achievement that made this possible without regular users even noticing or doing anything. Imagine someone replacing the engine of your car while driving at 150 mph and not even noticing that. Huge congrats to all the contributors.
But this is just the start of the Ethereum PoS journey, which has a nice roadmap ahead containing the following upgrades: “Merge, Surge, Verge, Purge, Splurge” which are being developed in parallel and that will make the Ethereum blockchain more scalable, private and secure.?
Interesting fact: the Merge has reduced the worldwide electricity consumption by 0.2%, an unique event in the history of technology.
