The Eternal Fiend, Our Constant Foe
Le miroir des lamentations by Christian Satin, 2013

The Eternal Fiend, Our Constant Foe

There stands an enemy that separates us,

Despite the reality of our love,

The truth in our words,

And the brilliant light of our thoughts.

No matter how close we become or

the strength and will we find in our hearts,

His reach and might will always

Force us apart.

He is the unstoppable juggernaut of age.

The cosmic force that defeats the strongest of wills,

Crushes everyone's dreams,

Makes mockery of hope

And remains more constant

Than any one person's love ever will.

That bastard son of God's victory

Over Chaos

When the Universe was young:

Time

Though when we sit together,

In conversation or silence,

Our minds and hearts entwined together

More intimately than the flesh

Of any creatures of God

Could accomplish or dare,

Its as if Time no longer exists.

The linear structure that

Forces Order on Chaos

Appears impotent and frail.

It is a false luxury of hope

And dooms our most intimate connections.

For the allies of Time are always there

To lay the charges of decency and morality,

Be jury to the crimes of appearance and logistics,

As well as pass sentence on the foolish dreams

Of two hearts that despite all odds

Met at last.

My dear lady, if only,

Oh, if only

You and I were born closer in years

Perhaps a true love or

Even an intimate friendship,

Might find temporary acceptance

Under the dark gaze of humanities eternal foe

Instead of derision and mockery

From his other victims.

?Such irony it is

That it leaves us only

Those moments alone

When we are allied companions

Of Love

That we create a memory

That only in imagination

Lasts for

Eternity.

How I love the words you have, with your heart on both angle.......Mazza! ..Gwendolyn
