Estimator

Estimator

Sentri Group is currently working alongside a privately owned regional contractor who is looking to appoint an Estimator to their already established Preconstruction and Estimating department in Surrey.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a construction professional to join a business that has had strong growth over the years.

As a member of the Management Team, the position will be working closely with the current Estimators and Commercial Directors. You will be responsible for delivering projects from initial single and two-stage tendering and framework agreements across Health, Education, Commercial and Leisure sectors, with projects ranging from £100k – £10m in value.

Reporting to the Estimating Manager as an Estimator, you will be expected to interpret and price construction project tenders ranging in value from £100,000 – £8,000,000 ensuring that projects are properly understood and priced correctly. Additionally, you must be able to hold Adjudication meetings to present the completed estimate with the Directors and Estimating Manager resulting in well-considered tenders being submitted on time.

Making sure that the estimate is accurate is essential and managing this process efficiently is vital. You need to be thorough, and under the guidance of the Estimating Manager, you will be expected to carry out your own estimates and manage your own time in doing so.

Key duties & accountabilities will include:

  • Understand the ‘building process and the different types of tenders, including experience with D&B tenders, which may have less initial information than a traditional tender.
  • Carrying out the process of the estimate from initial receipt through pricing, reporting at interim launch and mid-tender review meetings. Carry out site visits to allow completion of the estimate with pre-set deadlines, ready for tender adjudication and Director approval.
  • Put together the final submission, on time, of tenders including assisting with the completion of quality elements, if necessary, in collaboration with our Business Development Manager.
  • Checking and acknowledging receipt of tender documents.
  • Formulating and sending out Supplier/Subcontract enquiry packages.
  • Liaising, chasing, checking, compiling, and comparing Supplier/Subcontract enquiry packages.
  • Undertaking “taking off” of quantities etc in an approved and recognised manner including using CAD measure and using our Causeway estimating software. Training can be given.
  • Building up rates for work items on an analytical basis.
  • Administering the estimate documents during the tender process.
  • Compilation of accurate and competitive estimate preliminary costs.
  • Liaison with Architects/Surveyors etc., regarding estimate queries.
  • Visiting sites etc, prior to estimate completion. Usually with the Estimating Manager or one of the Directors.
  • Formalising and maintaining internal costing details.
  • Liaise and collaborate with other company departments as necessary.
  • Maintaining and updating Subcontractor/Supplier records.
  • Partake in formal tender handover meetings with the construction team of your secured tender.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is ready to take the next step in their career as an Estimator and take on a full leadership role in the estimating department.

On offer for this Estimator position is a salary up to £55,000 per annum plus car / car allowance, healthcare, and pension and bonus scheme.
