TOWN PRIORITIES
Public Safety:
Traffic congestion is a persistent issue in our community, mainly due to growth and development, which has led to safety concerns at busy intersections and schools. It is essential to provide adequate funding to the police department to produce measurable results and respond to the community's demands.
In order to alleviate traffic, it is vital to gain support from local, state and federal authorities to address traffic safety concerns effectively. It is important to explore alternative routes to alleviate traffic on I-75, especially on 67th and 87th Avenue. Traffic congestion negatively impacts the quality of life of our residents, and therefore, it is crucial to tackle this issue with urgency.
Infrastructure:
The town requires an updated master plan along with funding for infrastructure projects. The focus should be on prioritizing road and sidewalk projects and funded drainage projects. To maintain the town’s charm as it grows, pocket parks must provide a safe outdoor space while preserving the tree canopies. It is crucial to allocate resources for aging infrastructure. Public and private projects should be encouraged, with a focus on seeking grant funding from local, state, and federal agencies.
Fiscal Accountability:
In order to maintain financial responsibility, the economic stability of the town must be founded on transparent and best-practice principles. It is of utmost importance to appropriately fund essential basic services to foster economic prosperity. The money of the taxpayers should be utilized to meet the requirements of the community, and not to finance projects that do not serve or benefit the residents of the town.
Blasting Concerns:
Collaboration and open communication with neighboring communities, as well as local, state, and federal officials, is essential for addressing the damaging impact of mine blasting on homes and infrastructure. Our community urgently needs relief from the disturbances caused by this activity, and I will work to advocate for and support all possible solutions.
Community Connection:
I believe in fostering open communication by being present and engaging with the community.
Together, let's work towards creating a more relaxed and fair community through collaboration and open communication. I am committed to being accountable with your tax dollars and ensuring that they are used wisely. I am proud of the achievements we have made together and I would like to personally thank my supportive community.

Relating to the special election, the deadline to register to vote (for anyone who has not yet) is very soon, on March 11th.?
If someone knows they won't be able to vote on the election day they have the option to vote via mail.
My understanding from reading the Miami-Dade Election website is you need to make the ballot request no later than 12-days before the election.
Again, 12-days before the election is to request a ballot via mail, but to become a registered voter in time for the election the deadline is this Monday.

The Bryan Morera campaign distributed a text message that attempts to challenge Esther Colon... but in the short message the?Bryan?Morera campaign reveals his lack of experience, his inability to pay attention to details, and his discriminatory intent...
Because...
Miami Lakes does NOT have Commissioners, it has Council Members and there is a fine distinction between the two...
What does the cost of food, insurance and gas have to do with running for office in Miami Lakes?
For these three issues go talk to the Florida Legislators... or State of Florida Governor, or the Federal Administration.
Not a single one of those items have anything to do with running for Council...?
If Miami Lakes needs a COUNCILWOMAN who takes action, then our sure vote is for Esther Colon, why?
She has the experience, the certifications, the knowledge of Administrative Governance and Esther is famous for a detailed oriented approach to everything she does.
On April 30th, 2024... VOTE ESTHER COLON
Block the desire to be part of a click, block the candidate that is beholden to special interests, block the candidate that as of the last contribution report dated 04-04-2024, Bryan Morera has received $20,110 while for the most part, Esther Colon is funding her own campaign...
The suggestion that Esther Colon brings a WOKE agenda to our small town fails to understand her ACTIONS vs words, accusations and glossy flyers... but reveals the need to grasp at straws to win against an opponent who has worked in the Administrative side of government for so very long.
Esther Colon has experience as a Town Manager, now that Miami Dade County will be returning to having a Sheriff...

04-19-2024: COMMENT RECEIVED FROM BORIS FOSTER, ATTORNEY AT LAW:
While negative campaigning can sometimes be an effective short-term strategy for drawing attention to genuine concerns about an opponent's suitability for office, it is generally risky.
It can have long-term negative impacts on political discourse, voter engagement, and a candidate's effectiveness in office.
Campaigns that focus on issues and positive visions for the future while maintaining a respectful tone towards opponents tend to inspire more confidence and respect from the general populace.

11 个月Esther Colon has shown throughout her years living in our community that she cares about this town and its residents. She has often volunteered her time to serve on committees and she speaks with good common sense when it comes to issues affecting our town. She will surely have my vote. Bonnie Cintron

11 个月I'll be voting for her too.
Through email communications with Eric Marrero, he asked who would I vote for on Town of Miami Lakes Council Seat #6 left vacant by former Vice Mayor Carlos Alvarez and I answerd: Esther Colon... here is why: First, to Mr. Marrero and all reading this post, vote your hearts! We are voting for Esther Colon, she is 70 years old and therefore will take care of Senior issues that everyone else has forgotten about... Esther is a former Town Manager, worked in the Sheriff's office and those two areas will benefit if we have someone that knows how to deal with every issue... With regard to the Budget, Esther received awards every year for really knowing how to report to the community, she is the person we go to when we need to understand how is it ever possible that we always have a surplus, etc. Esther is NOT a Republican, therefore will challenge the rest of the Council, she will NOT be part of rubber stamping any candidate's personal agenda... To all: We know all the candidates, we know Nelson Rodriguez, his son is awesome and has blossomed into a rather articulate and courageous young man, I was telling Nelson last night we are very proud of his son... Good luck to all!
