The Estate Planning Process

The Estate Planning Process

At Jurado & Farshchian, P.L., we strive to make estate planning as easy and straightforward as possible for our clients. Our attorneys firmly believe that every estate plan should be specifically tailored to meet each client’s needs and goals. This is why we will take the time to evaluate your circumstances to create the best estate plan for you.

Here is how the Jurado & Farshchian estate planning process works:

Step 1 – Scheduling an Initial Consultation with Us

The first step in creating your estate plan is scheduling an initial consultation with one of our experienced estate planning attorneys to discuss your case and let us know exactly what you expect from us. We will take our time to evaluate your situation to make sure we understand your specific estate-planning circumstances, needs, and goals. In addition, your Jurado & Farshchian attorney will make sure to educate you on estate planning matters so that you understand the process and know what tools are available and how they work.

During the initial consultation, your Jurado & Farshchian attorney will review your estate and current situation to determine what estate-planning tools you need. At this point, we like to learn as much about our clients as possible, focusing primarily on the estate-planning goals they wish to achieve while keeping an eye for things and documents they may not be considering or may not even know they need. Often, our clients only need a simple document, such as a living trust or a will. However, other times, clients need to protect their assets through more complex estate-planning tools such as asset protection trust.

During the meeting, your Jurado & Farshchian attorney will help you weigh each option and take the time to go over the costs and benefits of each estate-planning tool to make an informed decision.

If you already have estate-planning documents, we can review them to see if we can use any of them. Often, a simple modification is all it takes to update an old estate plan. However, other times, it is best to start from scratch. We will help you choose the best route for your case.

Step 2 – Designing Your Estate Plan

After the meeting, your Jurado & Farshchian attorney will begin to put the plan into action by drafting all the estate-planning documents you need. Your attorney will carefully design your estate plan to meet your individual needs without making costly legal mistakes. We can draft the documents and once they are prepared, you will come back to review them before signing them.

Step 3 – Signing Your Estate Planning Documents

At your convenience, you will schedule a date and a time to come to our office and sign your estate planning documents. At this point, we recommend you review the documents one more time just to make sure everything is ready to sign. If you are not ready to sign, you can take the documents home, look over everything at your pace, and come back whenever you feel ready to sign.

If your estate planning documents need to be changed, your Jurado & Farshchian attorney will make the necessary changes and re-execute the modified documents.
