Estate Planning Documents: Affordable with Help

In my book “Retire Early: What are you waiting for?” I devoted an entire chapter on estate planning. A couple of months ago I wrote about the number of people who die each year without even a basic will. Each time I suggested folks turn to an attorney in order to get the estate documents drawn up. The reason being, unless you go to an attorney that specializes in estate planning, the advice you are getting may not be accurate or the best suited for you. I have seen real estate attorneys, criminal attorneys and attorneys who are generalists royally screw up an estate plan for people. However, the drawback is that an estate planning attorney can cost thousands of dollars.
When I wrote the article “What Will?” about two and half months ago, it just did not sit right with me to suggest everyone go find an attorney. There are two reasons for that. First setting an appointment with an attorney is an easy thing to procrastinate on and the second is the cost. So, I set out to find an easy cost friendly solution. After doing a lot of research, I found Estate Docs Pro. Estate Docs Pro is an affordable option that allows you to work at your own pace while getting the support you need.
Why Estate Docs Pro and not Legal Zoom? Legal Zoom will sell your information so that local attorneys, insurance agents and anyone else that is interested in your business can contact you. Estate Docs Pro does not sell your information. This was big for me because I never want my information sold and I’m sure you don’t, either.
Estate Docs Pro offers the following documents:
-Last Will and Testament “Pour Over Will”
-Durable Financial Power of Attorney
-Durable HealthCare Power of Attorney
-Durable HIPPA Statement
-Living Will & Advanced Medical Directives
-and even a Revocable Trust in which you’ll get a comprehensive funding kit and a certificate of trust.
-Personal Password Protected Web Account to all of your documents which can be accessed anywhere in the world.
All of these documents are attorney drafted with decades of experience and they are compliant in all 50 states.
The big question is “How much is this going to cost me?” Estate Docs Pro is $999 for all of the documents and a one-year subscription to access your documents online. ($29 each year after.) You don’t necessarily need to keep your documents online, but it does give you the ability to update your estate plan anytime you’d like at no extra charge. If you needed to make a change to your estate plan through your attorney, don’t you think they’d charge you a portion or even all of their hourly fee to make that change?
I have partnered with Estate Docs Pro so you’ll get me as your accountability coach. Now I cannot give legal advice, but I can make sure that you stay on the task of filling out your documents, answer basic questions and more importantly, make sure you fund your trust. Out of the 30% of people who have a trust, 80% are never funded which means the trust is useless. I’ll be by your side guiding you through the process.
As the son of a funeral director, I know life is short and the importance of getting your estate planning documents in order. I also know doing these documents is easy to procrastinate and put off for later. Keep in mind that these documents don’t just protecting your family when you pass away, they also cover them in the very real challenge that you get incapacitated. These documents will address that through power of attorneys and the HIPPA Statement.
Without an estate plan, who makes the decision on how your money passes to your family? The state you live in. I don’t know about you, but I certainly don’t won’t the state making any decisions on my behalf.
If you’d like to try it out, here is a link for a free 10-day trial and you can drop me a line anytime with questions.
Don’t wait until it’s too late to get your estate plan in order. Your family will thank you for it.
