Essentials of Digital Marketing.
What is Digital Marketing?
Digital marketing refers to promoting, marketing and selling your products and services online by various techniques such as social media marketing. e- mail marketing, content marketing etc.
Let us understand this with the help of an example-
Suppose you want to buy groceries and you want them to be delivered to your home, you will search the internet regarding this. Based on the availability of the products, reviews, which website offers more discount etc., you will make your buying decision. Now think about this, if the websites you looked for were not present on the internet, what would you do?
This is called digital marketing; it is simply marketing your product, but it is done online.
Types of Digital Marketing.
1. SEO- It refers to a process where you create your website in a such a way that it ranks at the top in search engine results page.
This can be done by using keywords on your website, using correct language, no spelling errors etc. These things can be done on the website, so this type of SEO is known as on- page SEO.
When you work behind your website i.e., when you create backlinks, use social media marketing, this is known as off- page SEO.
2. SMM- It refers to when the website creator has to pay a certain amount of money to the search engine to rank his/her website at the top of the search engine results page.
Difference between SEO and SMM-
SEO- This process is organic.
SMM- This is a paid process.
For example- if there are two vegetable vendors, the first vendor is selling fresh vegetables so the people are automatically attracted to that vendor.
The second vendor on the other hand, has kept another person standing near his cart to tell people that they should try these vegetables, this is because he will get paid for his job.
