Essential Reading for Entrepreneurs and Leaders

Essential Reading for Entrepreneurs and Leaders

I consider myself a terrible reader, yet I love to read. Some people find me strange, but I particularly like business books and tend to read them and listen to them on audio. Here are some of my favorites.

Culture

Lots of companies talk about culture but words are nothing without action.

Recommended Books and Reads:

- How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie

- Maker's Schedule, Manager's Schedule by Paul Graham

- Delivering Happiness by Tony Hsieh

Operations

Operational excellence is critical for executing strategies effectively. Understanding the mechanics of operations helps streamline companies and achieve goals efficiently.

- The Four Disciplines of Execution by Sean Covey

- Lean Startup by Eric Ries

- Scrum: The Art of Doing Twice the Work in Half the Time by Jeff Sutherland

Foundational Knowledge

Foundational knowledge provides the basics upon which innovative and successful companies are built. Understanding these principles can guide strategic decision-making.

Recommended Reads:

- The Innovator's Dilemma by Clayton Christensen

- Zero to One by Peter Thiel

-Good to Great by Jim Collins

Negotiation

Negotiation is a crucial skill in business, whether you are closing deals, securing partnerships, raising funding or recruiting top talent. Mastering this skill can significantly impact your success.

Recommended Reads:

- Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss

- Getting to Yes by Roger Fisher and William Ury

- Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion by Robert Cialdini

These are some of my favorites but I'm sure there are others. What's something that impacted you and your business in dramatic way that you recommend to everyone?

For me Running Lean by Ash Maurya was far more impactful than Lean Startup - the former being the playbook for how to put the principles into practice. Must've recommended it to at least 200 founders by now. The other on Culture: The 5 Dysfunctions of a Team by Patrick Lencioni is essential
