Before starting the new year, you must reflect on your achievements and biggest failures of this year. Assess your satisfaction with all aspects of life, including career, spiritual, health, financial, and social aspects. Are you really satisfied or you are like those who hearts with which they do not understand, they have eyes with which they do not see, and they have ears with which they do not hear?
?If time were to turn back, what would you change? If you don't work on these questions now, you're on the wrong path and will remain where you are a year from now. If you slip, don't just sit, rise, and move towards the peak.

Stephen Covey, who wrote the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, emphasizes the importance of fulfilling the needs of the body, soul, emotion, and mind to achieve balance and satisfaction in life. Paul Meyer, the founder of the personal development company Success Motivation Institute (SMI), suggests that a person should balance and fulfill their needs through eight perspectives. I summarize them as following with some essential questions:
?
1/ Religious & Spiritual Life: Are you satisfied with your relationship with your Creator? If this is your final day in earth, what would be your fate? Are you really ready to leave this world? What have you prepared for your next life?
?
2/ Personal Development and Growth: Are you satisfied with the extent of your learning and self-development? Do you have education background in specialized subjects? What are your aspirations for higher academic? What kind of professional certificates have you got?
?
3/ Psychology and Attitude: What is the measure of your positive feelings versus your negative feelings? People dislike complainers and individuals with negative thoughts. What is the impact of your positivity on those around you?
?
4/ Physical and Mental Health: Are you satisfied with your health and physical fitness? Does your body betray you or assist you? The stronger believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, although both are good.

5/ Family Life: How happy are you with your family members such as children, spouse, siblings, and parents, and people who will stand by you in sickness! How much do you maintain ties with your close relatives (He does not accept the actions of someone who has severed ties of kinship)?
?
6/ Relationship and Social Life: What is the extent of your communication and influence in the environment around you (community, friends, neighbors, etc.)?
?
7/ Career Satisfaction and Growth: How satisfied and happy are you with your current job? Does your job meet all your needs? What is the extent of your development? What is your career growth plan? If your organization starts laying off some employees, what is your situation? What forces your organization to keep you? What unique thing do you possess that others don't?
?
8/ Finance and Wealth: Does your financial income cover all your needs, or are you in debt? When will you achieve financial independence? If you are forced to leave your job due to retirement or any other reason, how will you cover your financial needs and obligations (prison could be your fate)? Will you reach out to others saying, "Help me!" Do you see the value of your salary on price tag or a watch or a bag? What is your plan?

Our creator has distinguished us from animals and has given us minds to think with. My advice to you, my dear brothers and sisters, is to start now by creating a list of the most important goals you want to achieve in the coming year. May Allah grant you success.
