Here are core business lessons and insights from some of this year’s winners gleaned from their work, the Summit stage, and past Masters of Scale episodes:

To land a pitch, show — don't tell. To persuade her eventual co-founder Julie Uhrman to join the groundbreaking effort to start a professional women’s soccer team in LA (which became Angel City Football Club), Kara Nortman didn’t share stats, sales figures, data, or decks. Instead, Kara took Julie to a soccer game to help her truly experience the excitement and energy of the sport and the fans. "I just knew it was going to be a lot easier after she saw that," Kara shares in her Masters of Scale episode, which you can watch here:

Mitigate the risks of AI with swift and thoughtful progress. Sal Khan , founder of Khan Academy, advocates for addressing AI risks by responsibly embracing its potential. "The bad actors aren’t going to slow down," he warns on his appearance of Rapid Response. "And if the good folks slow down, we’re going to have less tools to police them." Khan urges us to navigate forward thoughtfully, advocating for positive applications of AI that not only mitigate harm but elevate society as a whole.

Customer experience is key. Chewy CEO Sumit Singh shared from the Summit stage that connecting and personalizing customers' experiences has been critical for Chewy's success. Whether it’s through birthday cards for pets, friendly and helpful customer service calls, or hand-painted pet portraits, Chewy puts their customers first. As Sumit emphasized, this human connection builds "loyalty that can build an offensive and defensive moat around your brand that allows it to compete."
