What an excellent day spent at the Funders & Founders Field Day hosted by Venture 53 here in #Atlanta today. I had a lot of fun moderating a panel session focused on supply chain & technology investment observations that featured Pat Martin, John G. Larkin, CFA and Jason Kuo. When asked for a bold, fearless prediction, Pat responded: "Everyone in this room will have a package delivered to them by a drone in the next 2 years." Seemed reasonable to me. But an hour or two later, as I listened in to Beth Flippo, CEO at Drone Express give a presentation, I am more apt to skinny that timeframe down to 2 months! Okay, perhaps a bit ambitious ?? ...but nevertheless, big congrats to the Drone Express team for their continued growth & success, including becoming one of only a handful of companies to have its Part 135 Application accepted by the FAA. This is a critical step to being authorized to operate unmanned aircraft for beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) commercial delivery in?the United States?under the FAA's strict guidelines. Learn more via the press release link in the comments. I find the current & the next chapters of the drone story to be absolutely fascinating. One of Drone Express' big partners is Microsoft. In fact, the company has an exclusive partnership with Microsoft to co-develop in-flight navigation systems using AI.
