The hugely popular webinar, ‘Harnessing the power of ChatGPT for e-learning’, provided insights into ChatGPT and other generative AI tools, exploring their potential impact on e-learning, for better or worse. We also asked our audience a range of poll questions and used the results to create an article examining how professionals see AI impacting the future of e-learning ?– read it here.

AI focussed upskilling

There has been significant discourse around AI technology over the past few months, with platforms like ChatGPT regularly featuring in headlines as a polarising subject of debate. Some are ready to embrace this new technology, whereas some view it as a threat.

The Harvard Business School recently shared an article about how AI could reshape the working world. The article suggests that changes are inevitable and those who embrace AI tech now will reap the rewards.

Tsedal Neely noted that “companies and workers should focus on upskilling” to make the most of new technologies rather than living in fear of displacement. As we move towards a world where using AI tools becomes standard practice, perhaps it’s time to consider adding an AI focussed training course to your current L&D programme. A company that offers upskilling programmes on how to leverage AI technology will soon become desirable to employees in any sector.

E-learning trend: Blended Learning

A recent poll by Flex Index found that location flexibility is most important to workers when it comes to workplace flexibility. With plenty of organisations already embracing the notion of a flexible workplace through remote working or hybrid working, it’s important to be flexible about e-learning opportunities too.

For many organisations, some training opportunities are suited to face-to-face teaching environments while some are more aligned with online learning. Equally, some employees or learners will prefer e-learning programmes, while others will perform better with offline learning. So, how do you maintain flexibility and cater to a wide range of needs and requirements? The answer: blended learning.

Blended learning simply refers to the practice of combining traditional offline, face-to-face learning with online e-learning.

We recently wrote an article exploring some of the ways organisations can harness the power of our Totara Learn LMS offering to deliver effective blended learningread it here.

Creating a positive company culture with e-learning

CareerWallet recently published a workplace survey which indicated that 1 in 5 workers feel that their current workplace has a toxic culture.

Whether working in a physical office environment or remotely, a toxic workplace culture can have a detrimental effect on the success of any business and will inevitably result in high staff turnover rates and further recruitment difficulties.

When building a positive company culture, it’s important to give employees a voice and develop a supportive environment. We recently shared an article on why an e-learning platform is a powerful tool for building a strong company culture. With the ability to implement wellbeing initiatives and create discussion boards and forums, e-learning platforms provide an ideal environment for employees to have their say. You can find it here.
