Preparing the foundation for a wooden swimming pool is crucial for its stability, longevity, and efficient operation, ensuring even water pressure distribution. The groundwork varies based on the pool's size, distinguishing between two main types of preparation required.
For smaller pools, a simple ground preparation suffices, focusing on readying the site for the structure's installation. In contrast, larger pools require a concrete screed to serve as a solid foundation, crucial for maintaining stability as minor deviations can lead to issues.
Here are the essential steps for establishing a foundation for a wooden pool without requiring concrete screed (specific models only).
1. Opt for a flat, well-draining spot. Steer clear of flood-prone or poorly drained areas.
2. Eliminate all vegetation, rocks, and debris to ensure the ground is clear and smooth.
3. Use a spirit level to confirm the ground is even. A slight decline away from the pool is beneficial for water drainage.
4. Stabilize the base by compacting the soil, either with a plate compactor or manually.
5. Add a layer of sand over the compacted soil for cushioning and stability, protecting the pool liner from sharp objects below.
6. Place the provided geotextile fabric over the sand to hinder weed growth and add another layer of liner protection.
7. After adding the sand and fabric, reassess and adjust the leveling to ensure the surface is completely?flat.
