LEC introduces new salary regulations for 2024 season

The League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) has revealed plans to implement new team salary regulations. The Sporting Financial Regulations (SFR) are also intended to secure long-term growth and to prevent LEC teams from overspending. The new rules will go into effect with the commencement of the League of Legends esports season in 2024.

The LEC SFR encourages teams to keep the sum of the salaries paid to the five highest-paid players within a range to ensure overall salary spending does not exceed a maximum amount. A low SFR threshold and a high SFR threshold are established based on a variety of market indicators such as LEC player salary, team financial statistics, and the league's income pool.

LEC teams who exceed the SFR threshold must pay a fine equal to 50% of the extra money. If a team exceeds the designated criterion by 150%, the LEC will receive a 100% bonus. The SFR will be implemented on November 21st. READ MORE
