Esperto's first expert - meet Kees, Verne and Scaling Up

Kees is an entrepreneur, investor, speaker, mentor and writer. Since he started Blauw Research with his partner Wout van der Wijk, Kees has led several fast-growing companies at home and abroad. Since his own growth training at the MIT executive center, he has developed a strange enthusiasm to make other entrepreneurs work more on themselves. When our previous companies, Blauw Research and Nebu, were only a few years into their existence, we started working together. We worked together on multiple new engagements.

The latest one was when Kees de Jong started to help Dutch entrepreneurs with their growth. Together with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce and the ministry of Economic Affairs he founded nlgroeit, Dutch for Netherlands Grows. The first thing Kees needed, was the National Growth Assessment, so Kees came to us. The first version was implemented by Marco Schmidt, who later on laid the foundation of the Esperto platform.

The National Growth Assessment helps entrepreneurs to overcome known barriers to scale their company, all according to the well-known Scaling Up model of Verne Harnish. Internationally it is known as the Scaling Up Assessment, which is being used by Verne's coaching organization, having over 200 coaches worldwide.

Scaling Up and Scaling Up Coaches

A Scaling Up coach uses the Scaling Up Assessment to get a really good view on how a company is doing and where they can further improve. The model is around the People - Strategy - Execution - Cash decisions of a company, and the report is built up that same way. In the Esperto platform the coach can quickly set up a new campaign, to invite the leadership team of the company to complete the questions that form the basis of the assessment. It sends reminders and when everyone has completed it, a report is automatically generated and made available in the portal. Within the Esperto platform the coaches can also use the Leadership Vision Alignment Assessment, which asks them to project the company three years from now, to find out where the leadership team are aligned and where they are not. Last but not least it contains the Quarterly Session Preparation Assessment, an important part of the Scaling Up model to set priorities for the next 13 weeks.

The Scaling Up Assessment is now available in English, Dutch, French, Spanish, German, Indonesian and Turkish and more languages are coming up. The assessment can also be bought online by individual organizations who want to do a self-assessment.
