Remember the film 'The Matrix'?
Neo was offered to take either the blue pill to keep living a life of illusions, or the red one to awake from societies shackles that had imprisoned his mind.
If you don't know, Neo chose the red one!
Quick recap on the film; Neo is born in a vat in one of the machines' farms and?his brain is jacked into the Matrix from birth, and he is raised as Thomas Anderson, who can sense that something is not right with the world.
In reality, we don't live inside a computer system and our brains are not jacked into a Matrix like the characters in the film.
However, with the growing popularity of both social media platforms and reality TV, if used or watched excessively can have an impact on someones mental health.
From watching other peoples lives and comparing our own, we lose sense on what we want our lives to look like and be. Seeking validation from others again, loses the concept of applying our own validation to what truly serves you and your happiness.
If that isn't bad enough it ruins your social skills, turning into loneliness.
Then there is the other factor; we are all living inside a society that promotes 'The Hustle Culture'. I have mention before, 'Hustle Culture', true meaning it the burnt out culture, were it promotes non stop working and not having a life.
Yes we all need to pay our bills and survive in life I won't dispute that at all, but the bigger picture is are you actually enjoying life in the process?
We don't have a choice of a red or a blue pill to take to decide our destination in life. However, we do have a choice of what we allow to take residency in our minds.

So how do we escape a mental matrix?
We are here for a short time so make sure you use your time constructively. Before you blink your eyes you will not be that young person no more, but an older version of yourself.
Look back with happiness and not regrets and nurture your mind with positivity.
Your mind is yours and despite life's pressure, only when you step back and place yourself in that present moment you know you have a choice so, make your's count to benefit you and your mental health.
You can't change politics and wars that are going on in the world, right down to people that have lost their ways.
What you can do is be positive and true to yourself and be amongst the tribe of unique souls that understand you have choices in life and choose to break free of mental shackles society imposes on us.
Be the hope for others, not the prize twat that follows the sheep!
