Back in 1931, Lloyd Douglas, the world-famous novelist wrote the Rod a magnificent obsession with other best-sellers books. He wrote a magazine title called 'ESCAPE".
In the article, Douglas asks who amongst us sometimes briefly with a temptation to run away. If all people who were given that idea temporary hospitality of their imagination were to have acted upon it few will be living at their present addresses and a small minority who did carry the impulses into effect is thoughtful if many ever disengaged themselves completely if they hoped from the problem that holds them forth.
More often times they pack their trouble in their old kit bags and took them along. The point of this article was simply don't try to run away from your troubles overcome them, prevail right where you are.
What we are after isn't an escape from our perplexity and frustration but triumphant over them and one of the best ways to overcome that is to get on course by restating and reaffirming our goals, all the things that we want. See them in your mind's eyes through faith, stay on the course just like the ship in the storm keep your engine running, the storm will pass although sometimes its seems it will never and one bright morning you will see yourself passing the abore light than a shy of relieve, rest awhile only before you know it you find your eyes turning to the sea again.
And that's just what it is of us two-legged thinking called human being operates. We escape from one problem not by running away from them, but by overcoming them.
In 2017 I fell through some hard times my first company failed, I didn't have any funds left to reinvest and nobody wanted to loan or partner with me. My close buddy from Taiwan who wanted to invest in the company pulled back when he visited me and saw me that I was folding up.
Out of pity offered that I join him in Taiwan to work in his family's business which is long-established, and that will allow me to earn some money. This concern was genuine and the idea was great. I thought about it and decided to give it a try.
I ask him to send me the contract and the paperwork to enable me to travel to China, then Taipei. During the process, I was out of money so I had to borrow the traveling expense from a friend. At the final stay of the process, I ask the company to send me a flight ticket and make a dedication from my salary, but they refused. They ask me to fund all my expenses. I was devastated. After studying the contract again I discovered that the provision was not there. I decided to call the travel off.
I took a break from everything. One day in my reflection I remembered that I met a friend who was running a logistic business and needed my help in marketing. I called him up and offered to work for him without pay, he was so excited that when we meet he ask me if I will like to stay with him while working In his company as I told him about my failed business and failed trip to Taiwan. He offered to give me a commission on every sale that I make, and other assistance in my daily operation.
Three months later I was refreshed, I made new friends made few bulks, above all was the new perspectives on what I needed to do. I left by friends company rent me a room with the few commission I had made and started doing one thing at a time.
In 2019 my friend visited manila from Taiwan and ask that we meet over dinner, I obliged. When he saw me he was surprised that I had turned things around. He asked, how did you do it? I told him escaping wasn't an option anymore. I was ready to face the storm and as you can see the storm is giving. And he replied. My father always tells us where ever you lose your investment in business if you don't live the place you will always get it back. It's a proverb in Chinese. I admire your courage my friend he said.
So anytime you feel like running away from your problem think of taking a break for a while to zero into it. Take a bit at a time.
At the end of Douglas's article he wrote, take a pad every single day and dissect your problem, instead of running away stay and work your way through them. And if you do, are a successful citizen.
