Escape to Australia

After many many forms we are about to leave Heathrow for Australia. We fly direct to Darwin and then on to Melbourne.

Since the Australian Govenment is allowing tourist travel from the 21st February there has been a mad rush and we were lucky to get a couple of business seats although we are not sitting with each other.

Hotel rooms which were heavily discounted are back to normal as restrictions are lifting.

Although like everyone we found lockdown a challenge we were able to continue our business which kept us pretty much occupied. Online platforms like Shopify and GoDaddy make online business very simple and can be run from a home office.

The other advantage of a home based business are very low overheads and my brother who is a partner in the business will be covering for five weeks while we are away.

When I compare the cost of entry into a business today compared to the 1980's it make sense to have a go and with all the technology everything is reported is in real time. This allows instant changes to the business model.

I should have retired about 6 years ago but can't see me doing that for a while.
