ERRORS HOSPITALS SHOULD AVOID DURING MARKETING....

What to market is important but more important is what to avoid. Today marketing of Hospital Services has taken over the driving seat in the business growth of Hospital. But in this race the owners tends to do some basic mistakes. Though the list is long but today we will discuss about the most common mistakes done by the owners and also the marketing team of the hospitals :

1) OVER DEPENDENCY ON SOCIAL MEDIA

The social media marketing is the latest buzz word every marketing agency come with when they approach hospitals. Short videos, insta reels, insta posts, making influencers talk about your hospital etc. Yes for the Gen Z these things are lucarative and do influence the decisions they make, but lets be practical , Healthcare is patient centric and you cannot expect people to follow hospital page on FB or Insta. No one remember that the influencer they follow on insta had gone to your hospital. So when it come to Hospitals social media is a good platform to create initial buzz but do not be over dependent on this solely for generating traffic.

2) NEGLECTING THE POWER OF WORD OF MOUTH

Many say that the days of WORD OF MOUTH publicity is over, might be true for other industry but not in healthcare, today also people ask in relatives and friend circle recommendation for selecting doctors/hospitals. So make sure that every customer who enter your hospital gets satisfied and they should be the flag brearers of your brand. The recommendation by a satisfied patient hold more value than any advertisement on any platform.

3) IGNORING TRADITIONAL MARKETING CHANNELS

Channels like newspapers, FM, hordings etc are still the most relavent medium of marketing to reach the end customers. Even the biggest of digital platforms like Amazon, Zomato etc give full page adverstisement to get customers. Same hold true for hospitals, if u want to reach the common public of all age group Newspapers are the best medium followed by FM and adversiment banners.

4) IGNORING OR NEGLECTING THE MOVES OF YOUR COMPETITOR

No brand is competitor prof , even the biggest of brands should keep an eye on the moves of competitor let it be in terms of packages, branding , new service launch etc. No brand hold a monoploy even if you have the best of doctors, so keep an eye on what your competitor is doing and also future competition which might be planning to enter the geography you operate in.

5) PATIENT FEEDBACKS

Neglecting the feedback by patients is the biggest mistake most hospitals do. So if you really want to grow remember that not just the positive review which is essential but also keep an eye on capturing the negative reviews. The positive reviews are good tool of marketing but it is the negative reviews which give you the idea where your services are going wrong, and improving those are the best marketing for patients.

6) IGNORING INTERNAL MARKETING

Last is the list but most important point which we all miss. We can do all sorts of external marketing to attract patients, but unless our own internal staff is not satisfied with us we will miss on a very major pool of referal . Its a common practice that the friend and relatives of a hospital staff will first call them when they need a hospital service so if that staff is not referring his own hospital that send a wrong message in the market. So make sure that you give importance to internal marketing and see that your staff is happy with your service so that they are confident in referring you to their family and friends.
