ERP & AI – what does the future hold?

The world of tech is a sector which is developing rapidly.? AI is becoming a key player, and it is unclear at this stage what impact this may have on ERP in the long term.?

But what is clear is that AI cannot replace ERP.? In time there is potential that AI will enhance some ERP software, but that is only once the AI element is robust enough with enough development time spent to ensure its reliability and security.?

So, there is no doubt in future years we will see more and more ‘Intelligent ERP Systems’.? This is very much an exciting chapter ahead.? Yes, AI will disrupt the ERP sector but by embracing this new technology it will allow for significant developments in ERP software offerings.?

Software providers of ERP solutions will need to consider their existing system offerings and adopt elements of AI into their technology provisions to remain competitive.? Many of the large ERP providers are already being proactive in this area and investing heavily in AI.? Smaller providers really do need to start to put strategies in place to embrace AI too.? Businesses need to be ready!

• SAP has created AI solutions tailored for different industries and unveiled the Joule AI copilot to make SAP business systems more accessible to everyone.
• Microsoft has integrated various AI functionalities and virtual assistants into Dynamics 365. These developments streamline sales processes, enrich customer understanding, optimise supply chain operations, and combat fraud.
• Oracle has launched Oracle AI Apps for ERP and introduced new generative AI features. These advancements aim to simplify the integration of new functionalities across a wide range of Oracle cloud services and industry-specific applications.
