Eric Church And Honey Good Rock It!
We all have songs that speak to us. Sometimes, they remind us of our pasts. At others, they perfectly suit what’s happening today. Either way, they touch our souls.
Eric Church’s newest song “Some Of It” has me hitting replay on Youtube incessantly. If you haven’t heard it yet, I urge you to do so. The reprise of this song bleeds wisdom:
Some of it you learn the hard way
Some of it you read on a page
Some of it comes from heartbreak
Most of it comes with age
And none of it ever comes easy
A bunch of it you maybe can't use
I know I don't prob'ly know what I think I do

No truer words were ever spoken about life. Of course you need to have lived some first to understand this, which underscores one of the most frustrating parts of parenting. I know this as I’m a mom five-times-over. Church’s “Most of it comes with age” lyric especially stands out to me when raising kids, as I am sure it does for so many parents.
Is it any wonder journaling has become such a national past time today? I bet my friend Honey Good could answer that question. This “grandma” has journaled so much throughout her life that she (and ABRAMS Noterie) have released a journal of her very own, allowing you to personalize what Church has generalized through his profound song.
Obviously, Church’s and Good’s words came at a contemplative time in my own life, when “gratitude” begins and ends each day regardless of what occurs between. And watching my children spread their wings - some more steady than others - is about all I can (and should) do as uncomfortable as that may seem.
Thankfully, there are those like Church and Good to carry me through and remind me that I am not alone. And now I am doing the same for you in sharing their work.
