There is a saying in online marketing, “You can’t deposit “likes'' at the bank.” It’s not all about the likes.
I’m sure you’ve had plenty of people you don’t know come by and like a post or maybe even comment, “hey nice backdrop”, “cool picture” and then you follow them, only to have them unfollow you a couple of days later.
While they are on the mission of getting more followers, you should be on the mission of looking at what metrics really matter.
- Engagement with real comments does matter. This is a perfect chance to communicate with people and take the conversation out of the comments and into your DM ultimately to your funnel.
- Unique visits vs. Visits. This is a metric you should be looking at. It will tell you If what you are posting is exciting enough for people to keep coming back.
- Time on site. How much time people are spending on your site gives you a real solid understanding of your perceived value and how interesting you are to them.
- Where are people going when they get there? By using Google analytics you can see how people are navigating around your site and where they are spending time. This is really interesting because they may be giving you all the clues you need to adjust your funnel.
Check these metrics and keep striving for meaningful engagement.
