ERDA propels Gujarat to pole position in addition of Wind power generation capacity during 2019-20

India is blessed with immense renewable energy resources in general and wind energy resources in particular. Harnessing the potential of wind energy resources in changing the energy scenario in the country is of paramount importance to achieve India’s commitment to achieve a target of renewable power generation of 175 GW by 2022. Gujarat has emerged as a pioneering leader in becoming a role model of India’s electricity transition. With installation of 1468 MW between April 2019 to March 2020, state of Gujarat has grabbed lion’s share of the new wind power installed capacity across India in the last financial year. A total of 2118 MW of new wind power generation capacity was installed in India in fiscal year of 2019-20 with total installed wind power capacity stood at 37,444 MW as on 31st March, 2020.

ERDA with its dedicated portfolio of services in the renewable sector has contributed its part in the growth. In the last year, ERDA executed power quality measurement activity for 250 MW wind power plant at Bhuj, Gujarat where requirement with respect to Harmonics, Flicker and Direct Current Injection were checked as per Central Electricity Authority (CEA) guidelines. ERDA is providing various services as part of renewable energy integration portfolio. It includes services like power system studies, power quality measurement, mitigation solutions & integration studies provided through Mi-Power, ETAP, EMTP-RV etc. ERDA is constantly working in the renewable sector and will be coming up with new range of services as per the requirement of the industries as well as central & state utilities in the country.
