Erase your Limits and Rewrite With Innovation

In Japan, a young engineer named Hiroshi worked for a stationery company, and his job was to design and improve pens. For years, the company specialized in producing the most reliable ballpoint pens, satisfying customers worldwide.

In this fast-paced world, mistakes were bound to happen, and people wanted the convenience of correcting them quickly without the cumbersome process of using correction fluid or completely rewriting documents. Hiroshi realized there was a gap in the market: what if a pen could erase ink just as easily as a pencil erases lead?

The idea seemed impossible to his colleagues. "Erase ink?" they scoffed. Ink, by its very nature, is permanent. "It can't be done. That's not how ink works," - but Hiroshi was not discouraged. The formulas he experimented with were smudgy or had permanent stains after erasing, and everyone called it a wasted effort.

The ink formulas he experimented with were too light, smudgy, or left permanent stains when erased. His superiors started to lose faith in the project, calling it a "waste of time" and advising him to abandon it. That's when he moved a leap forward by identifying a chemical sensitive to heat and found that it disappeared when heated to a specific temperature! With this discovery, Hiroshi realized that the key difference is to make ink disappear rather than traditionally erase it.

He designed the Frixion Pen with special thermosensitive ink and a rubber-like eraser on the end of the pen. The eraser makes the ink disappear due to the heat.

The Frixion pen disrupted the stationary industry and within months became a global sensation. It created an entirely new category within the stationery industry, and till date none other is close to the FriXion pen's brilliance.

The story of the FriXion pen is not just a tale of clever engineering; it's an story about persistence.
