EQ IMPACT: "Just take a vacation to deal with your stress."

Why didn't I think of that? (Brilliant!..hear my sarcastic tone?)

Burnout can lead to exhaustion, disengagement, negativity and reduced performance, with a study from Gallup estimating employee disengagement costs U.S. companies approximately $1.9 trillion in lost productivity. - Charlotte BizJournal

A 2023 study from the American Heart Association reported that burnout — chronic, unmanaged workplace stress — is on the rise, with 4 in 5 employees (82%) at least sometimes feeling burned out in their role.

OK..so here is a better title:

EQ IMPACT: Emotional Intelligence Can Help You Conquer Burnout, Stress, and Build Resilience - better?

Ya'll! I am stressed. At least that is what my handy dandy phone/watch app says. And honestly, I believe it 1000%. Why? Because I feel it in every cell in my body. Are you?

Don't you just love when people say:

"You need to get away."

"You need to get some rest."

...or my favorite..."Why are you stressed? You have a good life."

So...having a good life, means no stress? WOW.

And being an EQ thought leader, makes me have mixed feeling about how to handle it - as I should practice what I preach right?

Let's face it, life can be messy!?The truth is, I experience stress and overwhelm just like everyone else.?These practices are the tools I've found most helpful in managing them and bouncing back stronger. And yes, I have to practice using these tools just like you.

Feeling overwhelmed by stress and a whirlwind of emotions? You're not alone. The modern world throws a lot at us, and sometimes, it can feel like we're drowning. But there's a life raft within your reach: Emotional Intelligence (EQ).

EQ is the ability to understand and manage your own emotions while also recognizing and responding to the feelings of others. It's a powerful tool that can help you weather the storms of burnout, stress, and overwhelming emotions.

Here's how you can leverage EQ to regain control (your peace and power):

1. Self-Awareness is key

Mindfulness Matters:??Take time to check in with yourself. Journaling, meditation, or taking deep breaths can help you identify your emotions and understand their triggers. Quite simply...take a minute to pause.

Recognize Your Body's Language: Stress often manifests physically. Headaches, fatigue, and muscle tension can be your body's way of saying "SOS."

2. Manage Those Emotions Like a Pro

Don't Bottle It Up: Find healthy outlets for your emotions. Talk to a trusted friend or therapist, or channel your feelings into creative expression.

Challenge Negative Thoughts: Our brains love negativity bias. Challenge those self-critical thoughts with more realistic and empowering ones.

3. Navigate Relationships with Empathy

Active Listening is Key:??Give others your full attention when they express their emotions. Validate their feelings and avoid judgment.

Set Boundaries with Care: It's okay to say "no" and prioritize your well-being. Communicate your needs clearly and assertively.

Build Your EQ Muscle

Just like any skill, EQ takes practice. Here are some bonus tips:

Practice Gratitude: Focus on the good things in your life, no matter how small.

Self-Care is Not Selfish: Prioritize activities that nourish your mind, body, and soul.

Embrace Continuous Learning: Read books or articles on EQ, attend workshops, or find a mentor...or a coach.

By understanding yourself better, you can leverage your strengths and preferred coping mechanisms to build resilience?in the face of challenges.

Remember, mastering EQ is a journey, not a destination. Be patient with yourself, celebrate your progress, and don't be afraid to seek help when you need it. By harnessing the power of emotional intelligence, you can navigate the rough waters of stress and build resilience. Resilience is the result of using those tools effectively.

EQ is all about building a strong foundation for navigating life's chaos and crisis in a controlled manner to obtain the results we desire- not simply being emotional or being sensitive to other's emotions.

Cheers to us being emotionally brilliant ....96.8% of the time! ??

P.S. You can still plan that vacation, but have a plan of action when you get back to the day-to-day on how to be resilient everyday.
