ePTFE membrane is widely used in a variety of applications.

ePTFE has a wide range of applications due to its unique structure, including precision instruments, transportation, chemical equipment, electronic communications, aerospace, food processing, and other fields.

?

This is due to two factors. First, ePTFE has a low surface energy, a contact angle of water on its surface that is much greater than 90°, and ePTFE has extremely strong hydrophobicity, so it is not easily wetted by water. Second, the ePTFE film's micropore diameter is extremely small, approximately 5,000 times the diameter of water vapor molecules and 1/200 the diameter of small water droplets. Water droplets cannot pass through the film, but water vapor can, making the ePTFE film both waterproof and breathable.

?

ePTFE is expected to usher in new demand areas as a result of the new 5G infrastructure.

The 5G mobile phone, like the 5G base station, is a node in the 5G network and can send and receive signals, so it has the same radio frequency and antenna modules as the base station. On the contrary, these key modules must be protected, and protective measures such as waterproofing and dustproofing must be added to the equipment.

One side of the ePTFE membrane layer is coated with a coating with gas molecular micropores, which allows the speaker to reach a water depth of more than 50 meters without water seepage and ensures clear and undistorted sound quality. Water pressure-resistant sound-transmitting membrane products have been used in smart wearable devices such as Apple and Huawei in the field of consumer electronics.

ePTFE membrane applications in filtration and environmental protection materials

?

ePTFE film has excellent chemical corrosion resistance, high and low temperature resistance, and a low friction coefficient; it can be used to create a film-coated composite filter material with unique properties.

Because ePTFE has many pores with small pore sizes (the pore size is 0.1-10 m), the microporous film can intercept dust particles larger than 10 m, and the surface of the film is extremely smooth, making it difficult to form a thick dust layer and making cleaning relatively easy. ePTFE membrane filter material is now widely used in flue filtration and hot air filtration in chemical plants, power plants, carbon black plants, cement plants, paint plants, and other industrial facilities.

The new energy vehicle industry and lamp technology continue to evolve, and vehicle lamp design is now generally evolving in the direction of "slender, more transparent, and more functional integration," which undoubtedly brings new challenges to the waterproof and breathable aspects of vehicle lamps. It will have more market advantages for waterproof and breathable membranes with efficient protective ventilation performance and small volume, despite the challenges.

?

The ePTFE membrane material has an extremely tight mesh of micropores, with pore sizes about 1/20,000 that of water droplets, and can block tiny water droplets and dirt particles as small as 0.1 microns, ensuring that foreign objects do not affect the lights.
