Harvesting India’s agricultural growth aspirations
In The Spotlight
COP27?is an annual meeting attended by leaders and representatives from nations that have signed the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
In a grim address to the press, the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, said, “A third of Pakistan flooded. Europe’s hottest summer in 500 years. The Philippines hammered. The whole of Cuba in blackout. And … in the United States, Hurricane Ian has delivered a brutal reminder that no country and no economy is immune from the climate crisis.”
It is no secret that climate change hurts the farming community the most. This year’s COP27 Climate Summit addresses five key areas:
Unfortunately, each of these affects the farmer, one way or the other, directly or indirectly.
agribazaar is taking considerable steps to develop innovative solutions that enable the agri-community to adapt to the effects of climate change. We have made farmer productivity, in the face of climate change, the basis of our innovation.
Tech Showcase
Climate change-related consequences like erratic climate behaviour, irrational temperatures and abnormal soil erosions can lead to disrupted crops and poor yields. The agri-community needs to remain two steps ahead of such uncertainty. While this seems impossible, technology has the ability to help.
At agribazaar, we continue to develop features that enable farmers to act proactively. One such example is IoT-based Farm Management. AI-engineered tools equip the agri-community with accurate weather forecasts. This in turn helps in better farm yields. Additionally, machine learning, analytics, satellite imagery and other technology-powered tools streamline agriculture management.
Customer Speak
We waste time when we go to the marketplace (Mandi). With agribazaar, everything can be performed systematically, saving our time and effort. We get timely payments and don’t have to go from pillar to post to get appropriate prices for our yields.

It was only a matter of time before agriculture was given its due importance at climate change summits. In an encouraging development for agri-communities, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) will be launching a plan in a year’s time to make the world’s food system more sustainable. The plan is similar to what the International Energy Agency did, which led to investments in the sector. The ensuing roadmap is expected to raise investments in related companies, projects, and technologies.
Industry Updates
Changing our food habits might help us meet our net zero goals. Isn’t that weird? However, a recent scientific modelling of 20 countries produced results that validate this claim. Is this relevant to the agenda of COP27 though? Apparently, countries with excessive food consumption and waste must focus on reducing their calorie consumption. On the other hand, countries that fall below such a level must focus on increasing their average calorie consumption. Balancing food consumption will reduce food waste, leading toward sustainability.
