Between two jobs that I've mentioned in my previous post, I've had wonderful experience as a manager of an exclusive catering facility, Club Reset. Responsibilities were sales and part of event planning.
When it comes to weddings, I was in charge of the beginning of events and charging, as well as for communication and organization of corporate events. That was my chance to improve my selling skills, and to test my nerves through something that I could call “crisis PR”.?
Because- we've had three and sometimes four events a week during the season. Most of them were weddings.?
Tramendes gratitude, for going through mistakes in the eyes of guests, goes to my colleagues that I was working with- Iris Maslovari? and Miljana Maslovari?. Today, they are still part of that business and? they provide additional value to the general impression that is above flawless service, fantastic architecture and wonderful concept of space that is over and over making you fall in love with.?
?I've had custom to, on the wedding day, make a small gaffe, and it was something like this:
After a number of meetings with the future bride and groom, their parents, maid of honor,? best man and everybody included in organization and making decisions, elaboration of details, choice of decoration, protocols and other things, we would become very close with a couple. On the big day, in the morning hours, it would look like this: they are entering the room, the groom is kinda dressed up, the bride with a fresh hairstyle is holding her wedding dress. Behind her there is a maid of honor, her sister, and I am looking like a big question mark saying this:
“Hey you! Wait, wait…Why are you here?? Isn't it…?”
And then you can see their stunned facial expressions, hearing my words and probably thinking about every conversation, about their dreams and plans and…
After that I say:
“Oh, I was kidding, everything is set!” After that, everything would go smoothly.?
I'll share with you one case:
The weather is nice, guests are gathered, a band is playing, the registrar is opening the wedding book and my colleague is telling me over the walkie-talkie (yes, that was our equipment) that we have “a situation” in the wedding suite. I am climbing upstairs and the first thing I can see is the bride's dad, almost having a nervous? breakdown, a couple of bridesmaids biting their nails and a bride, fully dressed, that doesn't want to come out. Her words were: “Why do I need this? I love him but I don't want a huge wedding!”
I am looking at her father and I can clearly see his determination to grab a microphone in 5 minutes saying that the wedding is off. He is one of those dad's who would do anything for his princess.?
I am inviting her for a drink.?
From the apartment to the exit where all the guests are, a path leads through the hall from which you can see the whole yard. And Iliterally like this: “Ok, let's get drinks downstairs, I've never taken out a girl in a wedding dress. We can have a drink and later, it will be as you wish.”
I am sitting with a bride in a bar, pouring her homemade drink. Her dad is looking, sweating, bridesmaids are upstairs, around is only a maid of honor.
Tehnician is in a hall with one waiter, realizing that it's a messy situation, looking at us with a stunned facial expression.
I am saying “Cheers!” and also that she is looking nice and modern. And then I'm? asking if they plan a vacation afterwards…

After almost 10 minutes I am telling her to look and see that everything is perfectly fine, that it's not a “big deal”, but that I understand her and if this is not just a “trip in her head”, that she shouldn't go through this.?
Just decide soon.
Everything went great.
Her dad tipped me quite well.?
A job in Reset made it possible for me to improve my communication skills as to control my expectations.
While I'd been working in Reset, people that I met had one thing incommon: marketing agency Homepage. Once, they invited me to their event: promotion of a new Samsung cell phone in the “BIG” mall. After that, including other “influencers”, they invited me to lunch and beer. Few beers later I was inspired enough to tell that event could have been better. Branislav ?erubd?i? was listening my inspired speach. The day after, we were sitting with Miloje Sekuli?. He named the event “Digital Night”. That event was held in Reset and got two rewards:
This is how it was:
As in every business, conditions of success are devotion, challenge, passion and personal stamp.
Ok, beer too.
