Episode 4 - A Kiss is Just a Kiss

Episode 4 - A Kiss is Just a Kiss

The episode starts in the flower shop when Emily meets a French girl named Camile, who helps her to communicate with the lady shopkeeper. They get introduced afterward and while having a walk on the street they had a little bit of chit-chat. Camile summarizes, “Paris seems like a big city, but it’s just a small town.” Her perspective is very native. When parting ways, she gets invited to visit the art gallery for a show where the famous American hotelier Randy Zimmer is coming as the special guest.

As a smart marketer, she comes with the idea to collaborate with the perfume brand “Del Heure” to create a signature fragrance for the hotel chain owned by Randy Zimmer as a cross-promotion tool. Her team and the client at the office get impressed by her marketing idea.

On meeting Zimmer at the party, she knows everything about his interview and business plan through his media statement. She then cleverly pitches the idea of collaboration by saying that while building the hotel’s customer experience, “smell” is one of the vital elements. During the conversation, she says, “It’s more like a blank billboard on Madison Avenue” without a signature smell. Further to a conversation he gets impressed and agrees to meet for an official pitch the next morning.

Following the morning meeting the next day, they decide to finalize how to collaborate on marketing ideas at dinner. While discussing the signature scent (smell) for the hotel the ideas were discussed around like it should be communicated as “naughty, romantic, affair or like perfect marriage”.

At the end of the episode, her boss was impressed and congratulate her for the pitch. The working rapport seems to be growing in good harmony with her boss now.

As a Marketer, my top 3 extractions from Episode – 4

  1. We should be always open to hearing the different cultural and societal insights, which will help us to build the marketing strategy/idea for the client.
  2. To be a smart and successful marketer we should always have the learning attitude of the different brands in the market. Who knows we might get a chance for “elevator pith” and can win the client for our company?
  3. ?Informal coffee, lunch, or dinner meeting is the best place to have a warm and meaningful conversation with the clients which gives us more productive results.
