Episode 33: How to Differentiate in HR Tech
It's hard for companies to truly stand out in B2B tech markets and this is especially true for HR Tech. Categories across the industry are saturated with companies making the same market claims, touting the same product promises, and flaunting the same features and technology. There are ways to stand out in noisy markets and it starts with a simple two-word phrase "saying no".
JESS VON BANK from 美世 joins me in part 2 of our previous conversation (Ep. 31) to discuss how companies can differentiate and what AI applications and categories that have her excited at the moment.

7 个月Joel, you had me at “Saying no!” When we talk about employee well-being, especially the constant feeling of being overworked and overwhelmed, be OK with saying no and empowering your team to feel comfortable with using it too. Saying no doesn’t have to mean a hard no - for context it’s a “I can’t do that, but I can do this” scenario. Open the two-way conversation so it works for both parties. Don’t get me wrong, there is a place and time for the hard no, but I really think it’s about looking at the bigger picture and offering additional options to get to the same result. Jess is on point when she spoke about everyone getting on the latest bandwagon. Made me think of that old line “Jack of all trades, master of none.” ?Stick with the services/solutions you do well, and partner with companies or people who excel at the other stuff – otherwise it’s a vicious circle – and never adds value. You and I have had this conversation – stand out from the noise and let what you do well, speak for itself (aka your customer).

7 个月Love the bit about being intentional about the problem your solving and who you're solving it for vs. being all things to all people. ??
