The evaluation uses a scoring system where models earn points based on how many of their facts align with verified sources.
By analyzing nearly 120,000 model generations on over 7,900 entities, the study reveals that LLMs are more prone to hallucinations when dealing with entities without Wikipedia pages. Even with retrieval mechanisms in place, the hallucination problem persists, highlighting the need for further improvements to ensure factual accuracy.
