This is the best detailed AI Global ranking I have seen, and it is from The Global AI Index.
It goes into detail about what makes up each country standing on the ranking and everything from talent, infrastructure, operating environment, research, development, government strategy, scale and intensity is looked at to determine the ranks that are not static unlike other sources.
The rankings change often as it is expected because the AI race is changing every day. It is not enough to throw money at the problem if your talent, operating environment and other factors are out of sync, you cannot compete.
There is no surprise that U.S is still number 1 with China following behind. What might be a surprise in the top 10 is India and Canada position. India is at Number 10 and rising while Canada is holding on but might be out of the top 10 if it does not get its AI approach mix right and take a holistic approach.
