The mindset shift that will change your life.
Hello friends!! How have you been ? Well I am fine too by his grace.
Last week we did the personality check where we spoke about discovering You by tapping into your inner being and finding out your interests to align them to achieving your goals. If you missed that please go back to that episode after reading this to check it out.
Yes its very good to know you, your personality and interests as an individual but the path to achieving your goals does not end there. You need a shift in mindset or what I call a mindset reset to set the pace for yourself. So today our topic of discussion is going to be about fixed and growth mindset.
But before I say anything what do you think about these two mindset types?
Share your answer in the comments section below.
After answering the questions of who you are and what you want to do. The next probable question you are more like to ask your self is; Can I do it? or Am I good enough?. Which is perfectly okay because today is the last day you are going to have troubles answering that after going through this newsletter.
Your mindset determines how you see the world as to whether its a place where dreams are moulded and brought to reality or the world is a wicked place full of wicked people where dreams are crushed and destroyed making the dreamer a failure.
Both perspectives are right depending on the context they are being used in. for instance: Seeing the world as a place of opportunities where you can achieve most of your dreams and aspirations if not all makes it easier for you to set goals for yourself and believe you can achieve them.
However, knowing that there are uncertainties, unforeseen circumstances and challenges in life that can arise at anytime to interrupt your path to achieving success makes you prepare for what is to come and plan ahead to bounce back when the waves of life hits you.
And that leads us to our topic of discussion which is growth and fixed mindset.
The idea of a fixed mindset means having the belief you are either born with certain abilities or not. Having a fixed mindset means your abilities are fixed. which means, you are either good at something or not and that the amount of what you can achieve is limited with relation to intelligence, age or even the strength you have. People with this mindset always question whether they can do something and make excuses for not being able to achieve that. They are not willing to learn or try new things and are always scared of failure.
The truth is most of us fall under this category and to be honest I have always had a fixed mindset for the most part of my life until I participated in the VA course offered by @Alx Africa where we were taught about the importance of having a growth mindset.

A growth mindset as the name implies simply means open to change and learn new things. People with this mindset believe that everything you can think of is possible and that the only thing that prevents you from achieving your goals now is YOU. they believe that with time and enough effort, they can achieve their dreams. So instead of asking the question 'Can I do this?' they ask 'How can I do this'. they are always optimistic and accept the world for what it is so when things go wrong they quickly dust of their shoes and move on.
On this note my friend I ask again, Do you have a growth mindset or a fixed mindset?.
To change from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset is simple.
Wow that was a mouthful of words. I am sorry today's article is a bit lengthy but thank you for sticking around to this point.
