Epilepsy Warrior

These days, a warrior is a person who believes in a cause, and wants to do something on behalf of it. An epilepsy warrior is no different.

Many members of the general public do not have the understanding of the condition. ?It is the cause of the epilepsy warrior to inform and educate others of the condition, and also publicize the work that is being achieved by both charities, and research bodies.

Epilepsy is a severe neurological condition affecting approximately up to 70 million people worldwide. A research paper from the University of Salzburg stated that patients with epilepsy carry a risk of premature death which is on average two to three times higher than in the general population.

In a similar way, a study from the University of Oxford suggests that those epileptics that have had Covid, are 55% more likely to have increased seizures, above those that have had other inspiratory diseases such as influenza.

We all hope that there will not be another world epidemic such as the Covid 19, but Governments are planning for “when” rather than “if” there will be another pandemic. When this happens, those who suffer from epilepsy may be more prone to suffer earlier.
