Epicenter expands in downtown Helsinki - Historic 100-year-old block reforms into an innovation and event hub to meet modern business needs

We are proud to reveal our expansion from Mikonkatu 9 to Mikonkatu 7 and Aleksanterinkatu 13. This new business campus will turn this historic industrial block into an innovation hub that serves businesses from event organizing to networking, creating impeccable opportunities for growth. This expansion is rare in the Finnish business landscape, and as such it provides an exceptional appeal for the city of Helsinki but also fertile ground for local and international scale-up companies to supercharge their growth.

“The block expanding from Aleksanterinkatu 13 to Mikonkatu 9 has been instrumental for Helsinki’s and the whole of Finland’s economic well-being for over a century. Now we are thrilled to announce that this block will be blooming again. We strongly believe in Helsinki’s appeal and we want to be part of building and bringing more growth to Finland.” concludes Nieminen.

This expansion is planned and created in cooperation with pension insurance company Ilmarinen .?

“Regenerating and flourishing Helsinki city center is a dear mission for us. Lively city center needs services that meet the needs of consumers and tourists alike. It is mutually important for us that we create concepts that serve the needs of local businesses.” says Ville Laurila, Rental Manager at Ilmarinen.

The offering will include the following selection of services:

  • World-class event and festive venues
  • Professional gathering personnel with years of experience in the business event landscape
  • First-class spaces for scale-up companies to network and grow

?

The opening ceremony will be held In August 2024.

Background of the Aleksanterinkatu 13

Aleksanterinkatu 13 has a fundamental part in Finland’s industrial history. After it was completed in the year 1900, the building was revolutionary since the property was the first purely commercial building in Finland with no residential apartments. Moreover, its adaptable layout makes the building more environmentally friendly, making it ahead of its time also in this respect. This is something that has been followed after the renovation of the building as an extensive amount of the raw materials were recycled.
