EPIC Online Technology Meeting on Quantum Computing

EPIC Online Technology Meeting on Quantum Computing

Sana Amairi-Pyka, EPIC Specialist on Optics Manufacturing, organized and successfully chaired with Jose Pozo the EPIC Online Technology Meeting on Quantum Computing. Both moderators discussed with the participants the role of Photonics in Quantum Computing and Quantum Key Distribution, focusing on new developments required, such as programmable PICs, single photon detectors, manipulation of single photons or co-packaging. Here below you can find a short summary of these awesome presentations (the full event is available on YouTube).

Valérian Giesz, Co-Founder and CEO at Quandela, presented their processes for building photonic qubits and providing quantum dot based single photon sources.

Joseph Emerson, CEO & Founder at Quantum Benchmark, presented their technology software to allow both makers and users of quantum computing to maximise performance.

Anna Lena Giesecke, Group Leader at Nanophotonics AMO, spoke on their quantum photonics research foundry and experience in silicon nitride based photonics.

Martin Schell, Executive Director at Fraunhofer HHI, spoke on their work in photonic integration.

Caterina Taballione, Quantum System Engineer at QUIX, presented their quantum technology solutions based on silicon nitride photonic integrated circuits.

Matteo Cherchi, Senior Scientist at VTT, presented their work in photonic integration technology for both R&D and production.

Federico Mattei, Innovation and Technical Manager, and Quantum Ambassador at IBM, spoke on IBM quantum chips, software and their quantum computer for commercial production.

Amado Bautista-Salvador, Research Scientist at PTB, presented their work on microfabricated ion traps and the development of a  practical microwave-driven quantum computer.

Mark Mackenzie, Senior R&D Engineer at Uniklasers, spoke about their single frequency lasers made in UV to near-IR wavelengths using their BRaMMS technology.

Ulrich Eismann, Product Manager at TOPTICA Photonics, presented their frequency combs in the 20 to 200 nanometre range and their use in trapping ions.

Christopher Leburn, Commercial Director & Founder at Chromacity, presented their laser sources and work on quantum key distribution.

Mircea Guina, Co-founder, Chairman & CTO at VEXLUM, spoke on the role of VECSELs for quantum information processing.
