ePED Escape Door System
I'm very excited to talk about Escape Door Systems (EDS) today, as we unveil the newest addition to our product range, the electrically controlled Panic Exit Device (ePED).
As you may already know, an Escape Door System needs to comply with BS EN 179, BS EN 1125 and BS EN 13637 that allows emergency exit via the touch of a button. I’m delighted to let you know that we've taken the ePED to the next level adding additional operational and security benefits to the user.
The new ePED has a sleek touchscreen that can be integrated into the wall. Many architects and specifiers have suffered aesthetically to ensure they meet the necessary standards, but we believe ePED provides the answer.
The touchscreen shows an icon of the buttons use, which, in an emergency will be more visible for escapees to find, and because it has a much more attractive appearance it is suitable to install even in the most stylish buildings.
The ePED operates by combining with two other elements, the electric door strike and the interface for locking systems. Unlike other EDS systems, the ePED can operate with or without timer delays.
It’s a unique system because the terminal offers everything a traditional escape route terminal offers, plus central time delay. When an emergency button is pressed there is an opportunity for security staff or teaching staff in a school setting to intervene if the system is being misused. T1 and T2 time delay options are available.
It also integrates a conventional escape door terminal in a single element, replacing four modules: key switch, emergency opening, illuminated icon and time delay display.
The ePED is applicable in three varying designs; the unit can be integrated with a Panic touch bar, or fitted as a standalone display door terminal or as a door terminal.
