The White House is moving to cut limits on power plant greenhouse gas emissions. The Obama-era Clean Power Plan had pushed for the use of renewable energy in lieu of coal, in a bid to meet emissions obligations in the Paris climate accord (from which President Trump also plans to withdraw). The long-expected proposal to repeal the CPP will be filed today, serving “as the official starting gun for what is bound to be a protracted regulatory, political, and legal fight,” predicts Axios. ? Millennials don’t know how to mop — and it’s throwing retailers for a loop. While the US has 4.8 million 26-year-olds (the country’s biggest age group), many of them don’t have the same household skills as older generations, writes The Wall Street Journal. Millennials don’t even clean the same way as their forebears. Now, as 26-year-olds make up 42% of home buyers (and 71% of first-time home buyers), companies like Home Depot, Procter & Gamble and Sherwin-Williams have had to start from scratch to build more relevant products — including tutorial courses on topics like using a tape measure — and develop new marketing strategies as millennials enter their peak spending years. ? Wildfires swept through Northern California on Monday in one of the worst firestorms in the state’s history. At least 10 have been killed and over 20,000 have been forced to evacuate. The wildfires were spread by powerful winds reaching 50 mph, destroying over 73,000 acres including wine destinations in Napa, Sonoma, and Yuba counties. Governor Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency in eight counties and officials said that at least 1,500 homes and commercial buildings were destroyed. ? Share your thoughts: #NCaliforniaFires
General Motors is boosting its self-driving efforts with the acquisition of Strobe. The start-up that makes LIDAR, laser-based sensors to help cars identify objects at a distance as well as their speed, will join the team behind Cruise Automation, another one of GM’s acquisitions. GM’s purchase comes as the race to get self-driving cars on the road first gets increasingly competitive, with both General Motors and rival Ford vowing to sell autonomous cars by 2021. ? Amazon is looking to compete more seriously with YouTube, according to CNBC. The retailer hopes to draw more advertisers to its video platform by providing additional viewer analytics and bringing together video producers and companies to make compelling ad content. Amazon also hopes to prevent ads from appearing next to inappropriate content, an issue over which YouTube faced backlash earlier this year. Video ads hold a lot of opportunity: The industry is set to reach $13.23 billion this year, with YouTube currently taking 21.7% of the pie. ? Share your thoughts: #AmazonVsYouTube
Idea of the Day: Forget a Starbucks card — one of the best gifts you can give a colleague is acknowledgement, says executive coach Judith Sherven. That doesn’t mean a high-five or handshake; focus on particular skills or achievements to make it meaningful.
“Acknowledgment—when done well—cannot be downplayed or fluffed off. And one thing that almost everyone wants is to know where they stand. Acknowledgment provides just that.”

7 年Finally we are cleaning up the 40 years of EPA abuse and organized crime against the people of the USA. In spite of the EPA we are now producing moreclean coal, multiple ready to use alternative energy sources and increasing the health of soil, soil microbes, crops, farm animals, and human health. So many people have no idea the difference of hard and soft coal = clean and not so clean. Microbial Generators are the fastest growing industry in the energy sector. Oil companies are buying into this faster than a liberal can complain the reduction of oil stock and drilling. Real science is here to stay. We are now at a turning point. You can talk or you can do.
