The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Region 8 Office has announced an extended application deadline for the "Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Center" (EJ TCTAC) grant competition. The new deadline, set for October 11, 2023, allows for a wider window for communities and environmental justice stakeholders across the Rocky Mountains, Great Plains states, and 28 Tribes to navigate and tap into available federal resources to address environmental and energy justice issues.
This initiative, with a funding allocation of up to $10 million, intends to bolster the capabilities of communities by establishing the EJ TCTACs. These centers are set to provide crucial services, including training for grant proposal writing, facilitating effective community engagement, and ensuring comprehensive communication outreach. They also aim to offer translation services, thereby enhancing inclusivity and accessibility for communities with varied linguistic backgrounds.
The spectrum of eligible applicants is broad, encompassing public and private universities, colleges, other nonprofit educational institutions, and Intertribal Consortia. However, entities who were recipients of the national competition (EPA-I-OP-OEJ-22-02) are excluded from this application cycle.
