I'm glad you're here! Let's dive in.

Today on The Smart Gets Paid Podcast, we're diving into a topic that's close to my heart: running a consulting business while raising kids.
Let's be real – it's a lot. As a mom of two (ages 5 and 2), I'm really in it. And I know many of you are too.
The Academy definitely isn’t a ‘mompreneur’ group, but a lot of our members are moms, and, like me, can’t separate that from running a business.?
On one of our weekly coaching calls one of our women shared recently that she’d just signed two new clients and had another probable in the pipeline. She said, this came at the perfect time, because someone had just tried to poach her nanny. Because of these clients she was able to counter with more hours.?
And another of our Academy members, whose business requires her to travel, said the reason why she joined The Academy is to learn how to ‘get clients on purpose’, so she can get more local clients and spend more time with her kids.
It's also why we're one of the only coaching programs that has a four-month Maternity Leave program, something I'm really proud of.
I’m never shy to say (mom caveat alert!) I LOVE my kids, but being in the thick of it with them and the business is hard.?
So when I thought about talking about this topic on the podcast, I knew exactly who to call… my friend and fellow business owner, Sara Dean, founder of Shameless Leadership (formerly Shameless Mom Academy).
Before starting the Shameless Mom Academy, Sara created, grew, and sold a gym in Seattle. For the past almost nine years, she has been sharing lessons and conversations about being a Shameless Mom, to stop shrinking, and start growing in all aspects of life.
What I love about Sara is she’s also not at all afraid of talking about how hard, messy, and disorienting it can be to become a mother and BE a mother.?We dive into some hilarious and often cringe-worthy tales of running a consulting business with kids in tow.
This episode is for you if you're a mom running a consulting business, you're considering starting a family while running your business, or you want to better support your mom friends who are business owners.
Because here's the thing – you can love your kids, love being a mom, AND admit that it's really hard sometimes. Especially when you're also growing a consulting business. We know exactly how it is!

Hi! I'm Leah Neaderthal. I'm a sales coach for women consultants and the founder of Smart Gets Paid .
When I left my corporate career and started my first consulting business, I learned three things very quickly:
1- It’s 1000x harder to sell your own stuff than to sell someone else’s.
2- Marketing is not selling.
3- I had no idea how to sell.
I needed clients, but I didn’t know how to actually get them, and I was terrified of coming off like a used car salesman. It made me doubt whether I was even cut out to run a business.
So I taught myself how to get new clients in a way that feels authentic, allows me to be myself, and that works consistently. I now teach these techniques to others. Because I know it’s possible to learn how to land clients, and actually feel comfortable doing it, once you know how.
