Ep 3. Rashid Khalidi, The Hundred Years'? War on Palestine

Ep 3. Rashid Khalidi, The Hundred Years' War on Palestine

In this episode of Book Club with Jeffrey Sachs, Columbia University Professor Rashid Khalidi, the world’s leading historian of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, discusses his remarkable new book, The Hundred Years' War on Palestine

How ironic, but how important, that this new episode arrives at a time of renewed violence and death in Israel and Palestine. Professor Khalidi helps us to understand the deep injustices against the Palestinian people that help to explain the current conflict. Lasting peace requires historical understanding, and Professor Khalidi’s new book, drawing on his family’s long and illustrious history in Palestine, can guide us towards that understanding.

The academic community should also teach healing and facilitate exploring other options of peace and confidence building between two groups. Palestine having Gaza Strip and West Bank as territories is like a time bomb waiting to detonate. Why not giving all of Gaza Strip to Israel and expand westbank for Palestine or portions of Jordan or Syria to be created as Palestine and the International communiy theough the UN may finace the purchase of territory? This option can be facilitated by a third party like UN. North and South Pakistan has sustained vulnerabilites of conflict, until the state of Bangladesh was created. Now, India, Pakistan, and Banladesh co exist in harmony.
